1. Who we are
Einlang ("we", "us", "our") is the operator of the Einlang mobile application and this website. Contact: einlanglt@gmail.com.
2. Data we collect
Account data: Your email address and authentication details. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address from the identity provider.
Content data: Text extracted from pages you scan (OCR output), AI-generated content (grammar, vocabulary, exercises, tests, chat history), your edits to AI content, and your progress and streak data.
Page images: Page images uploaded for processing are deleted from our cloud storage within 60 seconds of successful OCR. We do not retain your page images.
Usage analytics (optional): If you opt in during onboarding, we collect anonymised usage events to improve the product. This is off by default. It can be changed in your profile settings at any time.
Support communications: If you contact support, we retain the messages to resolve your request.
Diagnostic data: Error reports and crash logs (via Sentry), associated with a device identifier, not your name or email.
3. How we use your data
We use your data to: operate and improve the Einlang service; deliver AI-generated content specific to your scanned material; maintain your account and subscription status; respond to support requests; and, if you opted in, analyse product usage to improve features.
We do not use your scanned content or AI-generated content to train any AI model, including models operated by our AI providers.
4. Third-party processors

We do not sell your data to any third party.
5. Data retention
Page images: deleted within 60 seconds of OCR. Account and content data: retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion. Support messages: retained for 12 months. Diagnostic data: retained for 90 days.
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the right to: access the data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; export your data in a portable format; withdraw consent for optional analytics at any time.
Account deletion and data export are available directly from your profile in the app. For other requests, contact einlanglt@gmail.com.
7. Age limits
Einlang is not for users under 16. We verify age at signup. If we discover a user is under 16, we delete their account and all associated data.
8. International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States, where our cloud infrastructure and AI providers operate. We apply appropriate safeguards for international data transfers as required by applicable law.
9. No training clause
Your scanned page content and all AI-generated content derived from it are never used to train, fine-tune, or improve any AI model operated by us or our third-party AI providers. This is a contractual restriction with our AI providers.
10. Deceased users
If an Einlang user has died, a verified family member may request the deletion of the user's account and the export of their data by emailing einlanglt@gmail.com with a copy of the death certificate and proof of relationship. We do not provide login access to a deceased user's account. We honour Apple's Digital Legacy Contact and Google's Inactive Account Manager - if the user configured these features, please follow the instructions provided by Apple or Google.
11. Government data requests
Einlang complies with lawful government and law-enforcement requests. We require a valid subpoena, court order, or equivalent legal process for the disclosure of any user data. We require a search warrant for content data (such as scanned page text or AI Chat history). When legally permitted, we notify affected users before disclosure. We will publish an annual transparency report once the volume of requests warrants one.
